Teens & Adults: Intro to Jewelry: 3-Week Ring Series

• Thursday, October 23rd, 30th, and November 6th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
• $150 for Art Spot Members, $200 for Non-Members
• Ages 15+

• This class is taught in English.

Day 1: Jewelry Introduction

This class will introduce you to basic soldering techniques and the torch, joining seams together to create 3 to 4 sterling silver rings. We will learn to size, shape, texture, sand and polish the rings creating 3/4 finished rings. These rings can be stacked and one or two will be used for the stone settings coming up.

Day 2: Bezel Setting

We will set a cabochon stone onto one of the ring bands. Learn how to frame a stone in silver and solder to a back plate and onto one of the previously made ring bands, Assorted cabochons will be available to choose from for your ring design.

Day 3: Tube Setting

Day 3 we will set a faceted gem onto one of the ring bands. Learn how to cut and "seat" a faceted gem into a tube of sterling silver and solder to a back plate and/or right onto one of the previously made ring bands adding a sparkle to a set of stacking rings or a solo ring. Assorted colored gems will be available to choose from for your ring design.

This project will open up the studio space for your membership and further exploration and advanced classes in metalsmithing.

Adolescentes y Adultos: Fabricación de Joyas (Serie de 3 Semanas)

Día 1: Introducción a la Joyería

Esta clase les introducirá en las técnicas básicas de soldadura y en el uso del soplete, uniendo juntos para crear de 3 a 4 anillos de plata de ley. Aprenderemos a medir, dar forma, texturizar, lijar y pulir los anillos, creando anillos terminados al 75%. Estos anillos pueden apilarse y se utilizarán uno o dos en las monturas de piedras que vendrán a continuación.

Día 2: Engaste con Bisel

Enfocaremos una piedra cabujón sobre una de las bandas del anillo. Aprenderá a enmarcar una piedra en plata y a soldarla a una placa trasera y a una de las bandas del anillo creadas anteriormente. Habrá una variedad de cabujones para elegir en el diseño de su anillo.

Día 3: Engaste con Tubo

El día 3 engastaremos una gema facetada en una de las bandas del anillo. Aprenda a cortar y «asentar» una gema facetada en un tubo de plata de ley y a soldarla a una placa trasera y/o directamente a una de las bandas de anillo fabricadas anteriormente, añadiendo brillo a un conjunto de anillos apilables o a un anillo individual. Habrá una variedad de gemas de colores entre las que elegir para el diseño de su anillo.

Este proyecto le abrirá las puertas del estudio para que se haga miembro y pueda seguir explorando y asistir a clases avanzadas de orfebrería.
