Intro to Woodworking: Cat Scratcher

Join us for a fun and practical workshop where you’ll build a custom cat scratching post designed to keep your feline happy and your furniture safe. In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll create a unique shape using pre-selected wood pieces, giving your project both personality and function.
You’ll learn how to safely cut and assemble the structure using screws, creating a sturdy base that can stand up to daily scratching and play. Once the frame is complete, you’ll wrap and secure natural twine rope around the post, using staple techniques to ensure it stays tightly in place while providing the perfect texture cats love.
Throughout the class, you’ll gain hands-on experience with basic tools and simple construction methods, making this a great introduction to DIY woodworking. By the end, you’ll leave with a durable, one-of-a-kind scratching post that reflects your style and gives your cat a new favorite spot.
All materials and tools are provided.
Fabrica un Rascador para Gatos
Únete a nosotros en un taller divertido y práctico donde construirás un rascador para gatos personalizado, diseñado para mantener feliz a tu felino y a salvo tus muebles. En esta clase apta para principiantes, crearás una forma única con piezas de madera preseleccionadas, lo que le dará a tu proyecto tanto personalidad como funcionalidad.
Aprenderás a cortar y ensamblar la estructura de forma segura con tornillos, creando una base resistente que aguante los arañazos y el uso diario. Una vez que el armazón esté listo, envolverás y fijarás una cuerda de yute natural alrededor del poste, usando técnicas de grapado para asegurarte de que se mantenga bien ajustada y, al mismo tiempo, ofrezca la textura perfecta que les encanta a los gatos.
A lo largo de la clase, adquirirás experiencia práctica con herramientas básicas y métodos de construcción sencillos, lo que la convierte en una excelente introducción a la carpintería DIY. Advance registration is required. Each class must meet a minimum participation number. If the minimum is not met at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled start time, the class is subject to cancellation. Please call the Art Spot if you have any questions.

If you cannot attend the class and need a refund, you must notify the Art Spot by phone or email 48 hours before the class start time.
